Philips to share sustainability insights at the Nordic Conference on Sustainable Healthcare in Malmö 

Malmö, Sweden - November 5, 2025 - Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA), a global leader in health technology, will participate in the Nordic Conference on Sustainable Healthcare taking place in Malmö on November 12.  Philips team will join healthcare leaders to discuss how sustainable procurement and decarbonization initiatives can accelerate the healthcare sector’s transition to a more sustainable future.

As part of the congress program, Wessel Koopmans, Manager Sustainability Engagements at Philips, will present on the topic of green procurement. His session will outline existing sustainable procurement guidelines, share Philips’ perspective on sustainable procurement, and highlight how Philips supports hospitals in implementing these practices. Koopmans will also explore which areas hospitals should focus on to reduce the environmental impact of medical equipment.

Tackling the environmental footprint of healthcare

Hospitals’ environmental impact is on average 71% linked to the goods and services they purchase, highlighting the critical role of sustainable procurement. By making informed purchasing decisions, hospitals can significantly reduce their carbon footprint while driving suppliers toward developing more sustainable solutions.

Philips will share insights from its sustainability work with healthcare providers, including initiatives such as the collaboration with Tampere Heart Hospital in Finland. Showcasing Philips EcoDesign and EcoPassport

At the Philips booth, visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about Philips’ EcoDesign and EcoPassport programs - initiatives that ensure products are designed with sustainability in mind across their entire lifecycle, from material use and energy efficiency to recyclability and circular design principles.

 
Philips experts will also offer a mini sustainability assessment for interested visitors, helping organizations identify where they stand on their sustainability journey and how to take actionable next steps.
