Philips-spelaren är kompatibel med de flesta DVD-skivorna på marknaden. DVD, DVD+/-R, DVD+/-RW och (S)VCD – alla kan spelas upp på spelaren. DVD+/-R är ett förkortat skrivsätt för en DVD-enhet som kan spela upp bägge av de vanliga inspelningsbara DVD-formaten. DVD+/-RW hanterar likaså även de bägge vanliga omskrivningsbara skivtyperna. SVCD står för "Super VideoCD". Kvaliteten hos SVCD är mycket bättre än hos VCD, särskilt när det gäller bildskärpa tack vare en högre upplösning.
